Abstract
The reliability of the radiographic diagnosis, from plain chest PA film alone, of the congential heart disease was tested in 34 VSD, 32 TOF, 26 PDA, 11 ASD, 22 combined cardiac anormaly, 11 miscellaneous conditions and 14 normal cases.
Five radiologist were involved in this study.
On the average, each radiologist diagnosed congenital heart disease accurately in 46.7%
All of the five radiologist agreed on the correct diagnosis in 15. 33% and three or more radiologist among the five agreed on the correct diagnosis in 46.0%
Probability of the diagnosis of congenital heart disease from plain film was 42.6%. Diagnostic probability of TOF was 80.00% VSD 44.12%, PDA 30.77%, ASD 21.82% and 0% in combined disease respectively. In normal cases, diagnostic probability was 71.43%.
On the average, each radiologist could accurately cathegrize the congenital heart disease into same hemodynamic group such as left to right shunt or right to left shunt in 87.40%
